General descriptionThe aim is to explain the differences between the software of real-time systems and ordinary computer systems. The causes of the peculiarities of real-time software, the effect of these causes on the process of software development. Functional requirements, non-functional requirements. Data acquisition, management, human interface. Exception handling. The causes of time constraint, possibilities to consider these. Certification of software. Types of real-time systems, examples from application fields. Software life-cycle, the stage of collecting and specifying requirements are studied in more detail. Concrete examples and independent practical work in the environment of Rational Rose.
